چکیده

We derive the renormalization group equations for the neutrino masses and mixing angles in explicit form and discuss the possible classes of their solutions. We identify fixed points in the equations for mixing angles, which can be reached during the evolution for several mass patterns and give sin 2θsol = sin 2 2θatm sin 2 θ3/(sin 2 θatm cos 2 θ3 + sin 2 θ3) , consistently with the present experimental information. Further experimental test of this relation is of crucial interest. Moreover, we discuss the stability of quantum corrections to neutrino mass squared differences. Several interesting mass patterns show stability in the presence of fixed point solutions for the angles. a) Theory Division, CERN, Geneva, Switzerland b) Institute of Theoretical Physics, Warsaw University, Poland CERN-TH/99-269 IFT-99/22 October 1999

Large Neutrino Mixing from Renormalization Group Evolution

The renormalization group evolution equation for two neutrino mixing is known to exhibit nontrivial fixed point structure corresponding to maximal mixing at the weak scale. The presence of the fixed point provides a natural explanation of the observed maximal mixing of νμ − ντ if the νμ and ντ are [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]...

Astrophysical Implications of Neutrino Mass and Mixings

Astrophysical implications of neutrino mass and mixings are discussed. The status of solar and atmospheric neutrino problems, and recent developments concerning nuclear physics input to solar models and solar opacities are reviewed. Implications of neutrino mass and mixings in supernova dynamics are explored. The effects of supernova density fluctuations in neutrino propagation is described.

Quantum corrections to the effective neutrino mass operator in 5D MSSM

We discuss in detail a five-dimensional Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model compactified on S/Z2 extended by the effective Majorana neutrino mass operator. We study the evolution of neutrino masses and mixings. Masses and angles, in particular the atmospheric mixing angle θ23, can be significantly lowered at high energies with respect to their value at low energy.

We present a five dimensional supersymmetric SO(10) model compactified on an orbifold S/Z2 ×Z ′ 2. The gauge symmetry G422 ≡ SU(4)c×SU(2)L×SU(2)R, realized on one of the fixed points (branes), is spontaneously broken to the MSSM via the higgs mechanism. Employing a flavor U(1) symmetry and suitably extending the ’matter’ sector enables us to understand large mixings in the neutrino sector via a...
